今年のガーデン Garden work 2013

さて、去年はマンダラ菜園をデザインして、大はしゃぎだったのですが、今年は去年の教訓(曲線の部分の雑草の除去がまじでめんどくさい等)を生かして、直線を多用したデザインとなりました。

６月の菜園。やっとこさ出来てきました。

今年は、新しくビート、タイバジル、ケールに挑戦しています。美味しく育つといいな〜♡
ちなみに、キュウリの芽は早速ナメクジ達に喰われてしまいました。。。　むーーーーー。

ナメクジといえば、こちらのナメクジは信じられないくらい大きいです。
親指くらいの太さで、20センチくらいあるのがごろごろいます。最初は失神しそうだったけど、最近は軍手越しならつかめるようになりました。笑　いつかは素手でも大丈夫になる、いやいや、それは嫌だ。
今度写真を撮ってみます。

 先日語学学校で、「This I believe」という短いエッセイを書きました。

This I believe というのは1950年代のラジオで放送されていたコーナーで、各界の著名人が、自分の信念を2分間の短いメッセージに込めて語るというものだったそうで す。
　現在は非営利団体によって世界中からエッセイが集められていて、誰でもいつでもアクセス出来るようになっています。300字程度の短いエッセイなの で、英語の勉強に読むにはもってこいです(アインシュタインのエッセイもあります、ちょっと難しかったけども。）

さて、そういったわけで私も学校の課題でこのエッセイを書いたのでありますが、思い切ってここに記載したいと思います。

だって、たまにはそういうのもいいかなって思って。照

Made from Rice

I love rice. Mostly, I eat rice three times a day, for all meals.When I went to Philadelphia to see my family in law last year, I didn’t have any chance to eat rice for a whole week. I ate meat, cheese and bread basically. On the fifth day, I told my husband, “I need rice, and I wanna go to an Asian restaurant today. Can we?” Then he said yes, but we were invited lunch and dinner from his family, so we couldn’t have rice...

On that night, because I expected that I could eat rice, I cried.

I immigrated from Japan a year and a half ago, and live with five americans. Because of this situation, I realized that for me, no rice means no life.

Then, why rice is so important for me? I guess that is because rice is connect to my core. I grew up in Japan with Shintoism which is belief of the nature, and Buddhism. In Shintoism it is said that all the nature is god, so when we eat food, it means we receive energy from gods. Also, the teachings of Buddhism, we say “Itadakimasu” before meal which means “thank you for life of food, I’ll  take you”. It is the way to show respect and thankfulness for food and life. Additionally, when I was child, my mother, who is from the most famous place for rice field in Japan, always told me that in each piece of rice, there is a god. You are taking gods from nature, then you can survive. Be respectful for that....

.....Gods in it.....Really.....!!?
That sounds very interesting. But, I think, I know it's a little bit weird, but I believe that. Thus, some part of my body is made from rice, gods.

I love rice. I didn't realize how much I love it when I lived in Japan. But now, I’m in the U.S., in American culture, rice always fills my belly and reminds me the respect and love for the nature. I calculated about 65% of my body, brain, and cells are literally made from rice. It’s my energy source, and also it shapes the nature of me.This I believe.

改装 remodel

引っ越して来た当初から、ずうっとやっているんですけども、ガレージを改装しています。
今までディランがコツコツと、天井を張り替え、いらない電気のコンデンサーを除去し、窓を２つつけて、今週末やっと、ペンキを塗る所までやってきました！！
いやー、お疲れ！私たち！

 ディランは、このショップ(工房のことをって言うらしいです)が大のお気に入りで、家に帰ってくると真っ先にここの扉をあけて、「むふふふふ〜♡」としております。
分かる、分かるその気持ち♡

分かりにくいけど、ミソとムス

2匹ともこの杉材の下に寝そべるのが大好きで、ペンキ塗りをしている間中ここで昼寝をしておりました。


これから壁の半分から下に杉の板を張り巡らせて、床にスポーツ用のマットを敷き詰めて合氣道の道場に変身する予定です。
